Hi everyone! Today I have a very special post to share with you all… the unboxing of my very first Play! by Sephora box! I literally could not be more excited to show you guys what came in this box, because I am absolutely blown away!
If you haven’t heard of Play! by Sephora, is is Sephora’s new subscription box service. For only $10 a month (and free shipping!), you get a selection of 6 beauty product samples. And you guys. The quality of the products in this box, especially for this price, is un-freaking-believable!
Before signing up for this subscription myself, I had seen a few other girls do unboxings of previous month’s boxes, and I always assumed (because of the awesome contents of the boxes) that the cost would reflect that. As soon as I found out how affordable the box was, I was literally tripping over myself to sign up.
When I went to sign up, all the subscription spots were currently full, so I had to go on a waiting list to be notified when additional spots became available. It took around a month, maybe even less, for spots to open up to allow me to sign up. However, I believe currently there are spots available, so if you’re interested in signing up after seeing all the awesome-ness that comes inside, you can head right on over and sign up here.

Here’s a little overview of all the products that came in the April 2016 Play! by Sephora subscription box. The box also comes with a little pamphlet, that gives you details and information on each of the box’s products.
You are also given a Play! pass, which can be scanned for an additional 50 points when you make your next purchase at Sephora (I already used mine!) as well as one-on-one tutorials for the products in your box.
Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment
This is the first thing that caught my eye when I opened up my box, and I literally screamed like a little girl when I saw it! After hearing Makeup by Tiffany D talk about the wonders this product did for her skin, I’ve been dying to get my hands on it. But at $105 for a full size product, that just was not going to happen.
So this product alone made my first Play! by Sephora box a huge hit with me. I cannot wait to start using this in my beauty routine, and can’t wait to see what it does for my skin!
NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien
Next up is this pretty Nars lip color. I’ve already worn it a couple times, and it seriously feels so soft and creamy when you apply it. I also love that it’s a very soft pigmentation, so it adds just a touch of color, which makes for a very easy application compared to traditional lipstick. It is also easy to build up the coverage, it you do want more color on your lips.
Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream
I have been a long time user of all sorts of Clinique products, so I was really happy to get this in my box. I’ve also been wanting to add an eye cream into my routine, but they’re all so pricey! So this was another wishlist-fulfilled item in my box. I’ll most likely be using this in the morning, since I’m assuming ‘pep-start’ means that’s what its formulated for.
Derek Lam 10 Crosby 2am Kiss Eau de Parfum
While I’m not a huge perfume wearer, I’m pretty excited about this little guy. As soon as I took the little bottle out of the plastic packaging I could smell it, and it smells yummy! I’ve already worn it out, and even Melissa said she thought I smelled nice :). So I may start to turn into a regular perfume wearer!
Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil
This is the product that I wasn’t too sure about what exactly it was at first glance. But after a little research, it’s just basically an oil moisturizer. The Play! pamphlet suggested using it on your elbows, face, cuticles or hair. I’m not sure how I’ll be using this yet, but I’m definitely intrigued and excited to give it a try!
Sephora Collection Colorful Cheek Ink Gel in Peony
Honestly, this product was the biggest let down in the bunch. While it is totally possible that this is user-error based (I’ve never used a cheek tint before), I honestly can’t see any sort of color after applying and rubbing in this product.
Except for a stain right where the drop of product is applied, or a stained fingertip that I used to rub in the product. So yea, could totally be me just not knowing what I’m doing, but so far, I’m kind unimpressed.
But overall I am simply head over heels in love with what came in my Play! by Sephora box, and I am already so giddy excited to see what comes in my next one!
What did you guys think? So awesome right? I still can’t get over it that all of this was only $10. Mind. Blown! Do you subscribe to Play! by Sephora? What was your favorite product that came in this month’s box? Any that you’re dying to try out? Let me know in the comments!
