Hey everyone! I’m back today to share with you how I have set up my planning system for 2016! I see my “planning system” as the different planners or organizers I have set up to help me organize different areas of my life. Each planner serves it’s purpose, and utilizing these different planners in my planning system will *hopefully* help me balance and stay on top of all the various parts of my life!
If you missed it, you can see what my planner system looked like a few months back right here. I decided to update and tweak a few things for the New Year, to make my planning system work better for my needs this year. While I am already so happy with how my planner system is set up now, there are already a few things I’m planning to update and tweak further as the year goes on. Its just never-ending hehe!
I am a strong believer in having a fluid planning system, and never really plan to reach a place where my planning system is static and ‘forever’. My wants and needs from my planners are constantly changing, and so I plan to keep my planner system constantly changing to keep up. Not to mention it is just too much fun switching things up and playing with new planners ;).
So while I did put a lot of work into revamping and setting up my 2016 planner system, I still consider it the ‘foundation’ that I will continue to build upon and improve as the year progresses. I hope you like getting a peak at how I have everything set up! I will, of course, continue to share any changes or updates I make throughout the year with you guys :).
You can watch the video below for a full in-depth walk through of my planning system and tour, or you can keep reading the post to get a brief outline of each planner’s function.

Kikki.K Everyday Planner
This is the planner I have constantly out open on my desk to keep me organized throughout the day. Each morning I use this planner to outline my daily to-dos (which I pull from both my personal and business Erin Condren Life Planners). This way I don’t have to flip through multiple planners all day to complete my to-do items.
I also have other sections kept in this planner. A few were moved over from my previous discbound daily planner, and a few are new for this year. The sections are the following:
- Daily: holds daily inserts for planning my daily to-do tasks
- Lists: holds all my various lists from my master to do list, to wishlists, to movies I’d like to watch
- Money: holds financial inserts such as bill & debt tracking
- Notes: basic notes inserts
- Home: organizes anything to do with our home, such as cleaning and project planning
- Wedding: acts as an easily accessible place to jot down notes or lists for the wedding
- Personal: *not currently set up* will hold any additional personal inserts I’d like in my planner such as goal tracking, or health & beauty inserts.
You can see a full flip through and review of this planner when I got it here.
Personal Erin Condren Life Planner
I do my personal and home planning in here. I start with yearly planning, and mapped out various projects and goals I want to complete in 2016, organized by the month I’d like to tackle them. I then do very simple monthly planning, which usually only consists of bill due dates, major holidays or events, and some light monthly goal tracking. I finally do personal weekly planning, where I can plan out my weekly tasks and plans for anything non-business related.
If you’re interested, you can read a lot more about how I use this planner and get more details here.
Blue Sky Positivity & Gratitude Journal
This planner is completely new to my planning system this year, and I am so excited to have this addition! This planner was so sweetly sent to me by Blue Sky to try out as part of their New Year New Planner campaign. I absolutely loved the silver foiling accents on the cover and the edges of the pages, not to mention the beautiful blue color, so I really wanted to work this into my system.
I had been wanting to add some sort of positivity or gratitude journaling into my everyday routine, so I decided to give this planner a try for that. It has been working so perfectly for me for this purpose, and the interior layout seems like it was made for this. Each day is filled with lines, which so perfectly lend themselves to journaling! The week on two pages layout also leaves just the right amount of space for a couple sentences each day.
So I have started getting myself into the routine of writing down a positive thought, or something I’m grateful for, at the end of each day right before I go to bed. It has been such a great way to end my day, and I am so excited I finally found the perfect way to add this into my planning system!
Business Erin Condren Life Planner
The second Erin Condren Life Planner in my planning system is my business planner. I do all my yearly, monthly and weekly planning for both Label Me Merrit and the Merrit Elizabeth Shop in here. Again I outline my yearly goals by month, do some basic monthly overview planning and then more detailed weekly tasks planning. I am planning on doing a more in depth video and blog post for the planner soon, so let me know if this is something you’d like to see!
Martha Stewart Etsy Planner
This is the first planner that will get a major overhaul pretty soon. I previously did my monthly and weekly planning in this planner (among a few other things), but since I moved all that into my business Erin Condren, I really haven’t been using this planner as much.
Pretty much the only section I still use in this planner is the financial section. I still track all my income and expenses on financial inserts to help me stay on top of the Merrit Elizabeth Shop‘s finances. Every other section has been sadly neglected, and in desperate need of a facelift.
If you’d like an in depth look at how I previously set up this planner, you can read this post. Otherwise, I’ll be sharing an updated look with you guys once I get it all re-set-up!
Martha Stewart Blog & YouTube Planner
Same as my Etsy planner, I almost haven’t used this planner at all in the last few months, and plan to re-organize it very soon. I do still use the financial planning inserts in this planner to track my income, but that is pretty much it for now!
If you’d like a closer look at how I previously set up this planner, you can read this post. Otherwise stay tuned to see how I end up making over my blog planner!
Sugar Paper On-the-Go Wedding Planner & Journal
Alright so next up is my little on-the-go wedding planner by Sugar Paper for Blue Sky at Target. I stinkin’ love Sugar Paper planners, they always have the absolute cutest designs! And I just think this blush pink line they released for 2016 was so perfect for wedding planning, so I grabbed this plus two other items in this style to use in my wedding planning system.
Since we only just really started wedding planning, and this is clearly the first time I’ve ever planned a wedding, I still haven’t figured out exactly how I’ll be using this planner. But for now I’ve sort of been playing around and figuring it out as I go. Currently I’ve mostly been using it as a memory keeper/note taker.
I have been pretty much marking important days or events using cute stickers in the monthly calendar, like the wedding expo and dress shopping and such. I’ve then been using the weekly pages (also lined like my gratitude journal) to just journal or record any notes I want related to the wedding.
I think in the future I will be taking this planner with me to vendor meetings, and will use it to schedule wedding events/meetings as well as tasks and notes. But we’ll see how this little cutie evolves!
The Knot Home Base Wedding Planner
Finally, the last planner in my system is this beast of a wedding planner. This will serve as my ‘brain’ for wedding planning, and will be where I do all actual planning for my wedding. This planner comes pre-loaded with a ton of worksheets and information to help you plan your wedding, and I have already had so much fun flipping through all that is included!
Let me know if you guys would like a closer look at what is included in this planner, and I can work on getting a post and video together to show you guys. I’m also definitely planning on filming a video sharing my full wedding planning system once it is really set up and finalized!
But that finishes up my complete foundation for my 2016 planner system! I really hope you enjoyed getting a look at what planners I will be using to keep myself organized in 2016 and hearing exactly how I will be using them!
As things progress and change, and I will keep you guys up to date on all my planners and how they’re working for me. Definitely let me know if there are any specific videos or blog posts you’d like to see on anything planner related! I always love getting ideas from you guys 🙂
