Hello everyone! I am so excited to be back in the swing of things with my Project Life album! Hopefully I can keep up this momentum until the New Year, so I can really start 2015 strong, and avoid falling so far behind like I did in 2014! Then if I can actually keep up with my 2015 album, I can squeeze in finishing up my 2014 album whenever I have time. I have a plan!

For now, I’d like to share my finished week 12 Project Life spread with you guys. Again I was able to fit all my pictures onto a single Design A page. I like doing this because it will ultimately mean I can fit more weeks into a single album, which means I won’t need as many albums, which means I won’t need as much storage space for my albums. So short easy weeks always work in my book!!
For my cards I decided to kind of go with a more masculine ‘theme’ than is usually my style. I have a lot of embellishments that I have been dying to use, but can never fit them in with my normal bright colorful layouts full of pinks and yellows and teals. So I again decided to stretch my creative limits to try out a color scheme that I wasn’t fully comfortable with. And again I have pleasantly surprised myself, and am pleased with the results :).
I used a pre-printed weekly card (made by Hello Forver) as the base for my title card. I started by adding a partial gold doily to the upper left corner. I then added some diamond stickers (which came on a washi-tape-like roll in one of my Studio Calico kits) and some puffy diamond stickers (again from Studio Calico… actually most of this entire layout is Studio Calico), which happened to be in coordinating colors. I had been just DYING to use those two products, and love how they worked to perfectly together.
I used a March calendar card for my dad’s birthday pocket. I marked off the date of his birthday (and our celebratory dinner) using a wood veneer star. I then added a simple grey label to write in my journaling. And if anyone is wondering, yes… a My Little Pony drink tastes just as girly and delicious as its name suggests!
I kept these two cards super simple. For the left card I simply attached my pictures (Melissa actually made that beautiful plate of deliciousness… I have such a talented girlfriend!) and wrote my journaling directly on the card.
The card on the right captures Melissa building our brand new bed for the apartment, which actually ended up taking us over 2 hours to do! That had been a crazy day, and we ended up staying up until super later finishing building this bed. After a long day of moving, and mattress delivery, and shopping for the new bed frame and linens, then assembling new bed frame and linens… we were just exhausted. So I thought the “you are the best” sentiment was appropriate, because I could not have done all that without her.
The picture on the left shows hows tired Dakota was after a full day of moving. Having us constantly going in and out of the apartment, and moving all our stuff around, was really stressful for her. So she just passed out once we finally stayed in one place as we put together the bed frame. I again did nothing to the card except add some journaling, as I thought the goal spikey circles added enough jazz to that pocket.
The card on the right shows our brand spankin’ new-from-head-board-to-foot-board bed after we finally got it all assembled and made up. This was our first night sleeping in the new apartment (since we had to wait for our new mattress to be delivered to make the official move). I embellished a bit with a puffy sticker day marker, and a piece of ribbon wrapped around one corner.
I really wanted to use this card in this layout, but unfortunately the only picture it really worked with was a horrizontal photo, and the empty space on the card was vertical. I decided to just say screw it and go for it. It’s not like it’s that hard to tilt your head to the left to see the picture, and it’s my album… I can do what I want hehe! I added some cute days of the week washi to the bottom of the card, since that’s how often we were moving stuff from Apartment A to B over and over again! I also added a quick title to the card using a sticker label and some mint alpha stickers.
My last card might be my favorite of this layout. I just love how all the colors and textures play so well together. I started by adding a navy ‘Start’ flair button and a ‘Remember This’ pennant as embellishment around my picture. I then added a shipping tag (which came with a cute baker’s twine string attached) to the right side of the card to balance things out. I added the rub-on ‘Noteworthy’ title, then journaled on the rest of the shipping tag. And with that my week 12 was done! It was definitely a memorable week, and I am so glad I now have my memories recorded forever :).
Is anyone else still working on the first quarter of the year as 2014 draws to a close? I thought I’d be more stressed out about that than I am. Instead I’m more in a “it will get done when it gets done’ mindset. Because even if I don’t ever finished my 2014 album, I still have 12 more weeks of memories recorded than I would have if I hadn’t even started. So I love Project Life, because it gives me that chance to record those memories. Why do you love Project Life?
